Easter Sunday

I think I have finally figured this out, how to get to post something. I have been extremely busy, with the state meeting, Master Farm Homemaker judging, realty school, CV and JD. April is going to be quite eventful for me, and I am loving every minute of it. I am through with the realty school, now I just got to go take my test. I have been invited to join the Master Farm Homemaker guild, after they came and judged us, and state meeting is going well. CV and I will celebrate our 25th anniversary next week, we are still in shock that it is here. Kristi and Pierce will be coming home on Tuesday 21st, to attend the Master Farm Homemaker banquet. I cannot wait to get sugar off of that baby. We will get another baby the first of November. I am so thankful, and wished they lived closer.

I am writing this so everyone will remember that the 12th of April is Easter, and we will host Easter dinner here, around 2:00 p.m. I am going to fix ham and roast beef, mashed potatoes, and maybe corn pudding. You all bring what you want, and I look forward to seeing all of you. I want to see you in your Easter outfits.

Another Birthday Celebrated...

Families are like fudge - mostly sweet with a few nuts. ~Author Unknown

Just wanted to post a few pictures of Scottie, who turned five today. Strange how fast those five years disappeared. I called him earlier today, asking him if he wanted to go out to dinner. He did, so we went. His two picks as to where to eat were Frishes and Bob Evans. You can get grilled cheese at either one. I don't know who loves grilled cheese more, him or Daniel.

But anyways... for your viewing pleasure.

Wishing da Man...

Hey Y'all! Did you remember that today is Shane Allen's birthday? I know I saw several wishes on his FB page. I added mine to the growing list. But thought I would add one here as well. I finally was able to connect to the 'net. This gol-durned thing is enough to drive a person insane.

Anyways...while I still can, Happy Birthday Dear Shanie Boy!!!

(But you ain't there just yet. Hope that your day was filled with love and laughter.)

this one...

:) So, after a few really long days of waiting for a reply to my offer(s)....they accepted my last one! Closing is set for the end of April. It has been such a whirlwind. I am wishing desperately that my things would pack themselves. Anywho, I went over there tonight and took some pictures. Thought I'd share them with all of you.

lots of love to you all. ~dana

this one or that one?

hey y'all. so, i'm in the process of buying a new house. it's been tough! and somewhat fun... ya know, it's a lot trickier than i first thought b/c there's so much to think of. are you okay with a big yard? is the area safe? can you handle a small kitchen if you have a larger dining room? do you like the layout? how close is it to highways, bus stops, grocery stores, etc? what's the resale possibility? what are the neighbors like? yeah, that's just a start.

like i said, there is soooo much to think about and that doesn't even count the whole loan process (tons of paperwork!) Right now, I am playing the waiting game on this townhome: Here it is.

It's listed WELL below it's value and is pretty much in move in condition. I never thought I'd be interested in a townhome, but I *really* hope this one works out. I made an offer yesterday and am waiting to hear back.

Hope y'all are doing well and can't wait to see you soon! I'll keep you posted about the house hunting.

much love!
dana

Just so Y'all know...

Hi Y'all.

Seems like Sarah Beth has been the only one who has had words to post on the family blog. Since I'm home with the flu and today being the first day I have been able to think coherently for more than a few minutes at a time, I thought I would drop in.

Yes, I have the ole flu bug. It bit fast and hard. I went to work Tuesday afternoon not feeling myself. Didn't look too hot either by the observations given by co-workers. Nevertheless, I stayed the entire shift, but by the time I drove home, did the few things I needed to do like take out the garbage, laundry, dishes, etc. I was tired. Not bad tired or so I thought. Morgan came out after I got home. Guess it's a good thing his schedule is about as screwed up as mine. Otherwise, we'd never see each other. Regardless, we got caught up, ate a light supper, and then started catching up on all the 'net reading we had missed. Ok, he did most of the surfing. I was on the couch by then. Wrapped in a blanket, freezing, sneezing, hacking and coughing.

"You poor girl, you don't sound so good." Yeah? Well, I don't feel so good.

Next morning, I ached all over. Wanted to do nothing but lay on the couch, snooze, talk when talked to, pop a few Motrins every few hours to help ease the body aches and headache somewhat. The brief periods in between the pain were filled with the normal day to day things, like lunch, blogging and then dinner.

That lasted roughly 24 hrs before it laid me out completely. By the time Morgan had to leave Thursday morning, I was most miserable. Called the doctor who didn't have any appointments available, but you can come in after hours to the "First Come First Served Clinic". You know what that means? Yep, you sit till they call your name. Just what I want or need to do when all I'm wanting is to be in bed.

But I went.

Only had to sit for a brief one magazine read. Was called back to the exam room where the nurse takes all information, temperature, blood pressure. One more item to note, I was surprised at my weight. Who knew? Maybe being sick isn't such a bad thing after all.

The nurse leaves me curled up on the short little exam table awaiting the docs arrival. Even with me being so short, those tables were made for midgets. Finally the doc knocks and enters, asks the same questions the nurse had me answer just a few short minutes before. If I'm not mistaken, she even wrote my answers down. He checks my ears, throat, and nose. Listens to my lung sounds... Then proclaims in a wise doctor voice... "sounds like you have the flu, very contagious by the way. I suggest you take ibuprofen, chicken soup and lots of rest. Oh, no work till at least Monday."

Note to Shane Allen: YOU will have a better bedside manner when you become one of them, right? Please say yes, cause otherwise me and your momma will hunt you down like a rabid dog to make you change your ways. It takes compassion, caring and empathy for a good bedside manner. Qualities that I know you have in abundance. Just don't let them disappear on your way up. Got it??

Alrighty then. Sign me out, give me my work slip, prescription and Thank you very much. They take your money on your way out.

I stopped at the local Walgreens to get the Tamiflu prescription filled. Even picked up some juices. High tailed back to the house to bed. Popped the first of the twice a day pills. Drank some juice, made a few phone calls to the ones who cared enough to ask, then wrapped myself in a blanket, collapsed on the couch again.

You know what? I think my body was tired of all that laying in bed or on the couch, because sometime during the night, it was more comfortable to sleep on the floor. So I did.

There you have it folks, the details and description of that little bug called "the flu". Don't let him catch you unawares. His bite is definitely worse.

Reckon it's time for some chicken soup and another pill or two.

Much love from my house to yours...

No kisses cause I'm contagious, ya know?

Friday post

So yet another week has come and gone and what a week it has been! If you are reading this, you are alive and kicking and hopefully giving thanks to the good lord above for that. We could all be much worse off than we currently are and I thank God on a daily basis for letting me have as much as I do have.
I just wanted to send out a little inspirational note that I get in my email daily and I liked the one for today. Love and hugs to each of you and I hope you have a wonderful and blessed day and weekend!

Oh Yeah I Forgot....

It's me again! I forgot I was going to put a picture of Jenn's desk on here. If any of you all remember mom's smaller wooden desk that she used, she gave it to Jenn and I have redone it too. I have been in a fixer upper mode lately and just wanted to revitalize furniture. Nothing like hand me downs redone!!
Also, I wanted to tell everyone that I really enjoyed getting to see everyone that I did. I wish everyone could have been there and gone with us, but...there is always next time we go. We will have to make plans and meet up in Lexington again in about another 3 or 4 months. Whenever everyone is available and has time.
XOXOXOX
-Sarah- :)

Ta-da!! Here is the finished product...

So....I am pretty much so finished with mom's basement. I need to put up a couple of little things still and mom is going to do some kind of paint job on the grey primer wall. Other than that I just have furniture to move around. YAY!!!
Here are some of the pictures that I took today as I was setting stuff up. I am proud of her basement now!! LOL! It looks much more up-to-date and alot brighter as you can tell. Now if we can just the upstairs finished, mom will be rockin' in a completely re-finished house...at least on the inside.
XOXOXOXO

Barren County has the most fertile land in the state.

Lake Cumberland has more miles of shoreline than the state of Florida .

Kentucky is best known for its beautiful blue grass. And, let us not forget about the basketball and the Race
Horses !!

And then there more interesting things about this state................For example, below are some 'rules for rural Kentucky '.

THE RULES OF RURAL Kentucky
ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Listen up City Slickers !

1. Pull your droopy pants up. You look like an idiot.

2. Turn your cap right, your head isn't crooked.

3. Let's get this straight; it's called a 'dirt road..' I drive a pickup truck because I want to. No matter how slow you drive, you're going to get dust on your Lexus. Drive it or get out of the way.

4. They are cattle. They're live steaks. That's why they smell funny to you. But they smell like money to us. Get over it. Don't like it? Rt. 80 goes east and west, I-75 goes north and south. Pick one.

5. So you have a $60,000 car. We're impressed. We have $150,000 corn pickers and hay balers that are driven only 3 weeks a year.

6. So every person in Southern Kentucky waves. It's called being friendly. Try to understand the concept.

7. If that cell phone rings while an 8-point buck and 3 does are coming in, we WILL shoot it out of your hand. You better hope you don't have it up to your ear at the time.

8. Yeah, we eat taters & gravy, beans & cornbread. You really want sushi & caviar? It's available, at the corner bait shop.

9. The 'Opener' refers to the first day of deer season. It's a religious holiday held the closest Saturday to the first of November.

10... We open doors for women. That is applied to all women, regardless of age.

11. No, there's no 'vegetarian special' on the menu. Order steak.
Or you can order the Chef's Salad and pick off the 2 pounds of ham & turkey.

12. When we fill out a table, there are three main dishes: meats, vegetables, and breads. We use three spices: salt, pepper, and ketchup.
Oh, yeah....We don't care what you folks in Cincinnati call that stuff you eat...IT AIN'T REAL CHILI!!

13. You bring 'coke' into my house, it better be brown, wet and served over ice.

14. You bring 'Mary Jane' into my house, she better be cute, know how to shoot, drive a truck, and have long hair.

15. College and High School Football is as important here as the Lakers and the Knicks, and a dang site more fun to watch.

16. Yeah, we have golf courses. But don't hit the water hazards- - it spooks the fish.

17. Colleges? We have them all over. We have State Universities , Community Colleges, and Vo-techs. They come outta there with an education plus a love for God and country, and they still wave at everybody when they come for the holidays.

18. We have a whole ton of folks in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines. So don't mess with us. If you do, you will get whipped by the best.

19. Turn down that blasted car stereo! That thumpity-thump crap ain't music, anyway. We don't want to hear it anymore than we want to see your boxers. Refer back to #1.

20. 4 inches isn't a blizzard - it's a flurry. Drive like you got some sense in it, and DON'T take all our bread, milk, and bleach from the grocery stores. This ain't Alaska , worst case you may have to live a whole day without croissants. The pickups with snow blades will have you out the next day.

A true Kentuckian will send this on!!!

Just another post...

So anyhow, I don't know if I am the only one reading and posting on here, but what the heck is going on with all of ya'll??? I know everybody else has stuff going on that they want to blog about so I think we all need to start typing!! LOL! Anyhow, I wanted to light a fire under some keyboards and hopefully everybody will start getting on here.

As for our girls day out, we were wondering if anyone is interested or if anyone is able to go? I had posted a comment to the other post about our girl's day out that I can't go on the 21st....it's my husband's birthday. I am game for any other weekend though. We need to set a date and get together and go see the boy's in Lexington. Ya'll give me a yell back or post a comment whichever. My home number is 606-425-5494 and if I don't answer, leave me a message or you can call mom and let her know.

Love and hugs to all!

Shazam and here's mom's basement!

LOL!!! So I finally remembered to take my camera to mom's with me so I could get some pictures of the on-going work we are doing out there.

Here are a few of the basement. The one of the floor that looks just like concrete with junk is the semi-before picture...the original floor was the lovely brown (faded orange) indoor/outdoor carpet from the 70's when the house was built that bubby and JD pulled up. I am almost finished with the floor (3/4 of the way there) and only have 1/4 of the floor to do along with rearranging the furniture and putting up new baseboards. The floor is a tan epoxy with blue, black and white paint sprinkles in it. The steps are no longer the lovely greenish colored shag carpet as you all can see and they are now the tan epoxy paint with blue glitter in the sealer that we put on them. The walls...no longer white primer and wood grain paneling, they are now soft yellow. It is still a work in progress, but will hopefully be finished soon!

Anyhow, mom said that when she is finished de-cluttering her house we are going to take pictures of the furniture that will be up for grabs and we will get them posted on here for everyone to take a look and put in their request(s).

I hope everyone is doing good and until next time....HUGS and LOTS OF LOVE!

Girls day out?

Hi girls! So me and mom were talking this morning and wanted to throw an idea out there to see if there would be interest. We thought about us having a girls day out in Lexington so we can make sure the men are doing good and see what we can do to help them out or make their stay in Lex a little more comfortable. Plus that we want a shopping day out....LOL! Anyhow, we were discussing possibly the 21st or the 28th of February for our outing. You all let me know if either of the Saturdays will work for you all and we will see if we can't get together for the day. I figure we can check on the men in Lex and go to lunch/dinner and go shopping. (We should hopefully have tax money back at that point to where we can at least treat ourselves a little bit.) Anyhow, you all let me or momma know and we will get something set up.

We got more snow this morning and school is out again today, hopefully there is more coming our way over the next couple of days. I will try to get some pictures of my pet project at mom's house up on here in the next little bit too. You all will be suprised, suprised, suprised!

Anyhow, Love to everyone and hugs....we will be back on here later!

Friday, January 30, 2009

Well, I thought I would try this posting thing instead of just commenting and so far it looks like it's working. IF I can just get it to finish right, I 'll be in business. I'm glad everyone's doing well in spite of the blow Mother Nature threw at us this week. If my sources are right, we may be in for some more next week. I even got to stay home one day this week because of it. Turns out, I could have gone on in because the snow disappeared almost as fast as it came.
We are re-doing my house too. We have painted everything in mustard and ketchup so you won't be hungry if you come down this way to visit. It has been a co-operative effort, with everyone doing what they could. Sarah's husband, Ben, did the honors of spreading the mustard and ketchup. Very fine job, I might add. Then Shane and John David stripped the carpet off the basement floors. Sarah has been in charge of putting everything back in order, and now she is grinding the glue off the floor so we can stain the concrete. That away, in my old age, when I can't get up the stairs to the bathroom fast enough, and I pee my pants, it can just be dobbed up!!HaHa!! I ain't too far away from that now!! And if you're wondering what the heck I'm doing?? Well, I'm working to pay Lowe's off for all the stuff I've bought to do all this mahvelous renditioning!! I also have a friend who is helping me DE-Clutter!! You heard it right!!!DE-Cluttering. I have had some major panic attacks thinking about what she may take away from me.. Her one condition in doing this was that whatever she took out of a room could not go back in!! Can you believe it! You had just as well ask me to give up my first born!!! Anyway, I agreed, as my next- in -line sibling, Susan, said it would simplify my life. And I concur... If you aint got nothin, you can't lose nothin!! By the time they get done, I'll be lucky to have any purties at all. So when it all gets done, We'll have a big party and a big give-away. If you have ever secretly wished for anything I may have had, just come on down. Make your list and check it twice because it will probably be in the free- for- all party sale!! I will send details when the torture has ended.
Also, I think we should have an Aunties/neices day to go to Lexington and see where all the men in our family live, and go to school at and see what we can do to make life more pleasant and enjoyable for them. We could take them out to supper and do a fine job disturbing the peace at one of Lexington's fine eating establishment's. Would sometime in late February be good? Nan, you would need to look at your schedule and give us a more defined time. If Jenn is still among our readers, give us your opine too. I'm sure Tera would love to go. We might even be able to get a jump on spring shopping, even if I won't have no money!!! Anyways, I have blogged my little head off and that's just one more thing I won't have to lose so if you find it, let me know. Till I see you again, May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and may the snow melt under your feet. I love you each and everyone. Auntie B

Hi everybody!

Hi everyone! I haven't been on much lately, but hopefully I can start getting back on here more. We haven't had internet or phone for 3 days now...thank you lovely winter weather!

Anyhow, we have been remodeling our house, repainting everything basically along with some new floors, and I will get pictures up here before too long to let everyone see the improvements! I have also redone Mama Bond's cedar chest that I have. It is bootiful now that it received a little TLC. I think we may all need some TLC now that the holidays are over and things have kinda sorta calmed down. Girls when are we going shopping? LOL!
Anyhow, you all give yourselves some TLC until we can get a shopping trip together or something to pamper ourselves! I love you all and take care! Here are some of the pictures of the cedar chest and one of the girls out in the lovely white stuff!

Until the next post....

Evidence of Old Age...

Ain't we pretty?

Hi Y'all,

Well, Christmas is going to be here faster than we can blink. I called my kids tonight to see what's going on with them and if they were going to show up to Jamie and Jenn's. Lyle is supposed to be working Saturday, and doesn't know when he will be off. So... If nothing else, I'll stop to pick up the babies. Dana Lynn will be there as will Daniel. Reckon 2 out of 3 aint bad.

I wanted to thank everyone involved in that little secret of a 50th birthday party for me. Seriously, how you all got Morgan involved is beyond me. But I'm glad that you did. Shocked I was. I wasn't wanting to celebrate too much, till Beth told me that the alternative was not being here for my 50th. Guess it's a good thing God knew better than I. So to allow the one's who couldn't attend the shindig, I thought I would post some more pictures or as the kids use to call them "uglies". Again, thanks to everyone! You made me feel very special. By the way, I did post several of them on my other blog. *ahem* You could always drop by for a visit.

They made me Queen for the Day...or maybe Queen of the Evening! I even got my own tiara!

Cool! Presents... Just in case some of y'all haven't met Morgan yet, that's him behind me.

Oh yea!! Momma gave me a Doughmakers cookie sheet! Eat your heart out girls!

Talking to Gwen, Morgan, Sissy. Moni, Gunnar and Sharon in the background.

Now for the morning after... We had a partial sibling sleep-over. Wish we all could have been here.

Momma getting a picture taken while trying to take one herself.

Sissy at the kitchen table for breakfast.

Beth eating cake for her breakfast. That Red Velvet Cake was delicious!!

Susan in all her morning glory, preparing to leave. Let's hope she gets dressed first.

Lordy, I sure do look like I have a hang over, don't I? But I swear I didn't!

Yup, Susan got dressed and even did her hair up. Ain't she beauuuteefull??

And there you have all of us in our natural habitat. I say we's sure is purty...

Much love, hugs and kisses from my house to yours!
